He keeps patching it and painting
Thinking about his pension plan
But the boat is out to pasture
Seems it never had a chance

I wanna be a boat
I wanna learn to swim
Then I'll learn to float
Then begin again

2024 Transportation Appropriations includes a $1,879,000 earmark for the 'I-75 Overbuild Project' which is in Shri Thanedar district. Anyone know what this project is? Is this the long-proposed Fisher Freeway cap downtown?

Hey look, another $4B of federal transit grants that Michigan gets $0 of. Every year we don't invest in transit is a year we are giving competing states and regions free money to make them more attractive than us. transit.dot.gov/about/news/bid…

This is a big deal. Almost $60M in Federal grants to make streets safer for everyone, on foot, on bikes, in wheelchairs, or in vehicles.

Was it Russ McNamara that dropped this little gem in an NPR news update this evening? β€œThe Detroit Pistons host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight because they have to keep playing games.”

I applaud The Ride for trying to fill these gaps in regional transit service. On the other hand, this is a great example of how we ask transportation agencies to solve poor land use decisions.

The safest streets are ones where drivers think their car will get damaged. We've tried high viz crosswalks, speedometer signs, cut outs of kids, none of it works. What works are raised crosswalks, speed bumps, narrower lanes, chicanes, and the like.
