The quasar J1342+0928 is 40 trillion times brighter than the Sun & contains a black hole 800 million times more massive than the Sun. At 13.1 billion light-years from Earth, it's one of the most distant known quasars to-date.

“My life was transformed during those minutes of totality,” says Debra Ross C’91, recalling the 2017 total solar eclipse in Missouri. The experience ultimately led her to become cochair of American Astronomical Society (AAS)'s solar eclipse task force. thepenngazette.com/total-eclipse-…

Solar flares explode in the corona, emitting X-rays, ultraviolet light, high-energy particles & more. Sometimes solar protons burst out too, creating a hazardous solar storm. When humans head for Mars, they will need to be shielded from this danger.

Sunspots, areas where solar magnetic fields are concentrated, look dark because they're cooler than surroundings. Spots may last days or weeks, often come in pairs with oppositely directed field & vary in number over the roughly 11-year solar cycle.

If you can get to the path of totality on Monday - do it! If you can't, you can still watch the partial eclipse. Even a 10% partial eclipse is fun to watch.
If you made to the path of totality and it cloudy - it's still gonna get dark!
Enjoy the day - no matter what your view

The eclipse begins when the Moon touches the Sun & takes a nibble out of the solar disk. 1st contact is initially visible through a telescope, then binoculars & finally the unaided eye. Regardless of how you view it, a safe solar filter is a must! eclipse.aas.org/eclipse-americ…
