This is the eastbound side of the ten freeway. Caltrans District 8 is working to remove mud over a portion of it. But if you are heading towards or in that direction turn around and find a nice spot to hangout until this backup clears.

Traffic is now moving along westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway. It appears four lanes are open with mud on highway scraped clear as much as possible.

A LOT of drivers stuck in the westbound lanes of I-10 near Cathedral City. On my drive in going east one lane was one allowing westbound traffic through now nothing it moving. We are at a standstill hoping Caltrans District 8 will get things moving before our bladders do.

Update: 3/2/23 7PM, Unfortunately as alluded to in our previous post in reference to the escorts, we have had to stop operations as it has been deemed a safety concern at this time with our partnering agencies. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you know where your meter is and can safely remove snow around the meter, do so. Be careful not to damage the meter as you remove snow. Gently clear snow away by hand or broom. Don’t use a shovel or other sharp tools.

If you smell gas, call 911 or SoCalGas at 800-427-2200

Finally! Mountain residents lining up for escort up Hwy 330. Both HWY 18/330 will be open to residents only from 5-9pm. CHP will escort up to 20 vehicles at a time. Best to carry chains. I have no information from Caltrans District 8 about R2/3 conditions.

crews did a phenomenal job clearing roads. BIG news, we will resume escorts on SR-18 & 330 tonight from 5-9PM. There is the potential of slides through the area, so they could be suspended if safety comes into play. Caltrans HQ CalSTA California Governor California Governor's Office of Emergency Services

It’s snowing in and I’m not talking light snow either. The elevation here is between 2,000 and 3,000 feet. Kids here are getting a rare snow day off of school.
