London is increasingly becoming a city that is unlivable for ordinary people. The housing crisis and cost of living crisis is forcing people out of the city or into poverty.

But it doesn’t have to be this way👇

'You are a person that I am satisfied can cope and function reasonably well with ‘day to day’ living and this would, I believe, still be the case if you were to become homeless or to remain homeless.”

This is genuinely disgusting. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

This is a national disgrace.

The homelessness crisis isn’t an unavoidable fact of life, it’s the direct result of political choices made by those in power. And as those choices have been made, they can be unmade. But only if we’re organised and willing to fight for it.

We are.

Homelessness isn’t a force of nature, or an act of god. It’s a political choice made by the people in power.

Every day that the homelessness crisis continues is a stain on the hands of those who hold power in this country. A stain that will never wash off.

A 30% (£700) rent increase is pure greed enabled by a rotten housing system, plain and simple.

We need rent controls, badly. But we also need an entirely new housing system that prioritises people’s need for housing over lining the pockets of the wealthy.

“The price of bread, biscuits and beer could be at risk of rising as a result of months of wet weather in the UK.”

This isn’t just “wet weather”, it’s a sign of things to come if those in power don’t start taking climate change seriously. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Homes should be a place of safety & security, not damaging to our health & wellbeing.

We need a strong Decent Homes Standard for private renters, proper enforcement & robust consequences for landlords who make a profit while putting lives at risk.

“P***-taking landlord tries to charge tenant £25 for every email she has to reply to.”

This is the reality of how landlords think they can treat tenants in this country. dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-ne…

Note that this supposed “clarification” gives no date for the ban on Section 21 evictions, and no date even for the assessment of the county courts that the Government says they need to do before banning S21.

It’s been 5 years since they pledged to abolish Section 21. FIVE.

“Two UK water companies lack complete maps of sewage networks.”

If these private water companies weren’t ripping us off and pumping raw sewage into our rivers and seas, their incompetence would almost be funny! ft.com/content/cdda3b…
