Enjoyable night out in #Logroño . Lots of great wines at #Roots , as per usual, including several blind. Yummo tacos at #BarrioBar , back to basics at #BarSoriano and lots of Athletic Club (Bilbao) fans in evidence, as they just beat Mallorca in the Copa del Rey (FA Cup).

A cool Easter weekend, has left us some snow on the #SierraDeLaDemanda mountains and reservoirs that are rapidly filling up. The drought is possibly close to over, here in #Rioja at least.

#Galia - new one on me, but sounds great.
'Opulent may be unfashionable these days' - love it. There's not just one style of wine, even though most critics these days seem to be in favour of lighter, fresher, less oaky, 'mineral' styles. Room for everyone I say.

From the first vintage Celler Alimara, hopefully going well with Sunday lunch. A very typical Mediterranean blend, in this case mellowed with a stay in barrel then bottle.

Sunday night, still quite busy in #Logroño , as tomorrow is a holiday in various parts of #Spain .
Some fascinating wines on offer at #Roots , as per usual. In particular I thought this #Lurretik #Txakoli was just brilliant - great balance and nice lees-aged notes.

Wow! Amazing wine! My winery workers made this during their lunchtimes in the last harvest. 2023 foot-trodden #Tempranillo , 2 months in new oak, then some old oak, then bottled. So much fruit and surprisingly soft. Maybe I should put them in charge of winemaking when I get back.

Much of #Spain needs the #rain , so this is basically great news, despite it coinciding with the Easter weekend.
