Man Orange County is depressing. One of the most beautiful natural landscapes on earth and it’s absolutely desecrated with strip malls, high ways, and parking lots as far as the eye can see.

This guy is so disappointing. Absurdly wide road designed to encourage speeding and no mention of intersection design.

If the federal gov had any backbone and actually wanted safe roads, we could just say to every state and local gov: Here’s the Dutch transport guide, copy this in your engineering manuals or lose federal transit dollars. That’s basically what the gov did with the drinking age.

I’m all for new tent encampments, but before you build them you should need to engage with the stakeholders in a series of community meetings, have some design review, and ensure that the tents align with the existing character of the community.

This is such a false dichotomy though. We have every capability to build walkable transit oriented cities with large houses. Look at some of the older streetcar suburbs. There’s a great middle ground between Jacksonville and Brussels.

'We've got to get the coffee shops, the barber shops, the law firms back into residential neighborhoods'

At the risk of liking a politician, watch this.

three years since project connect passed! what has happened in three years except hiring consultants?? it’s absolutely maddening that this is just the way projects are done. hire regular ass full time staff and let them do their fucking job

It's remarkable to me that this obsessive commitment to safety almost exclusively applies to air travel. We should absolutely be doing this with urban intersections where fatalities happen.

We analyzed the prices of non-apartment housing in the central city, and found (unsurprisingly) that land cost is the primary driver of housing costs. Missing Middle housing is drastically more affordable than single family construction.

The difference in the two places I call home - Boston and Austin - couldn’t be more stark. I’m watching rents falls in Austin while there’s no relief in sight for Boston.

A complete failure of governance in Boston and the metro region.
