The cordon covers Everton Road between a Mersey Travel bus stop and Spencer Street

Bus services aren’t able to stop on Everton Road due to the fire. A diversion is in place along West Derby Road and Belmont Road

Firefighters and now hitting tiles on the roof of the affected building. Some debris is falling into the pavement

Smoke can still be seen billowing from the roof of the building. Two firefighters have just switched onto the aerial platform and are heading back up to continue fighting the blaze

The building is an end terrace of a number of derelict three-storey properties on the road. There are wooden boards over many of the windows

No other emergency services are at the scene at this time. As firefighters continue to put out the flames the wind is blowing water into the road

Traffic is not struggling with the road closure at the moment, with cars being able to u-turn easily. I can imagine this may change as we approach rush hour

Residents and businesses nearby are being asked to close windows and doors due to the smoke coming from the building

Crews have been here since 11.40am, with four fire engine responding initially
