That's to say, if you shout “Kill the Jews!” at Harvard University, it appears to be permitted free speech. You actually have to kill Jews for it to amount to bullying and harassment (which others might call murder or a crime against humanity). Jewish students at Harvard must be appalled.
.Rep. Elise Stefanik: “Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Harvard University's rules of bullying and harassment?”
Claudine Gay: “It can be, depending on the context.. antisemitic rhetoric, when it crosses into conduct, amounts to bullying, harassment..”
So antisemitic speech is fine.
Not what she said to Elise Stefanik. She was asked: “Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate Harvard University's rules of bullying and harassment?”
She responded that it “depends on the context” (echoing presidents of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) & Penn).
Rep. Elise Stefanik is right to call for her resignation.
I have to post this incredible (literally) exchange again, if only to thank Rep. Elise Stefanik for resolutely exposing the unethical barrenness of the moral codes which underlie these prestigious institutions of higher education.
I know a lot of people are going to be watching this for the entertainment, but I do hope Boris Johnson might kick this #CovidInquiry into serving a useful purpose, by (for example) questioning the costs and morality of lockdown, and the arbitrary infringement of liberties.
Think about this for a moment.
£1.9 MILLION to animal charities.
What a man.
Ricky Gervais deserves a knighthood for services to charity and animal compassion (not to mention entertainment).
Delightful news, richly deserved.
Congratulations to The Rest Is History Tom Holland Dominic Sandbrook 🥂(and well bestowed, The British Academy).
