I’m excited for the path ahead to get the Michigan Voting Rights Act passed, and grateful to partner with these leaders, especially Jocelyn Benson to get this done!
Our democracy is the ultimate team project in Michigan. Read my column in today’s Detroit Free Press to learn how Michigan Department of State, advocates, clerks, legislators, and voters came together to make early voting accessible, secure, and successful for our entire state. freep.com/story/opinion/…
Violent threats against election officials are not acceptable, under any circumstances. I’m grateful that Karen McDonald is taking strong action to address these harmful threats. detroitnews.com/story/news/pol…
.MIT Election Lab just ranked Michigan #2 in the nation in terms of election administration! When Jocelyn Benson took office, we were 31st. As we continue to work together with clerks all across our state, we’re looking to be #1 in 2024! elections.mit.edu/#/data/map
Great American Bar Association & Keep Our Republic event today at Wayne State University. Got to meet and hear from @judgeluttig before the panel on Election Integrity with Lisa Posthumus Lyons, Kent County Clerk/Register, Justin Roebuck, Christopher Thomas, and Aghogho Edevbie, moderated by David Becker.
Please check out this important thread by David Becker on the baseless RNC lawsuit that was filed earlier this week. Michigan’s voter roll standards are a gold standard.
As Jocelyn Benson and I outlined in our The Detroit News op-ed last year, we need ethics reform in Lansing.
The BRITE Act provides us with this needed step forward. A big thank you to Chair Byrnes, Jason Morgan, and Betsy Coffia for their courageous leadership.
Today marks one year in the books as Deputy Secretary of State. Thank you Jocelyn Benson for this incredible opportunity to serve and make a difference!
In Royal Oak with Rep. Haley Stevens with a special message for you: You got 30 minutes left to vote!
Election Day is more than halfway over! If you still have an absentee ballot, make sure to return it to your local drop box or clerk’s office by 8pm. #MichiganPrimary
