There are so many racist white people in the disability community. They don't view Black people as being part of the community. Why else would I get a message like this.

A guy with cerebral palsy got his benefits taken away without notice. He needed it to be able to change his diapers multiple times a day. When this was told to a doctor, he said it’s okay to be dirty. This is how some treat disabled people; that it’s okay to sit in our own filth.

Not going to QT, its Sunday and I need my peace. But let me just say, depression isn’t a choice. It isn’t a weakness. Much like you can’t opt out of a stroke by being strong, you can’t opt out of depression by being strong. Mental illness is as valid as physical illness. Clear?

We need to start talking about agency & independence in the context of disability. A shocking number of disabled people are living in unsafe situations because it’s all they can afford or they need help & someone takes advantage. Financial freedom lessens that burden.

If they legalise euthanasia here, which they will if nondisabled people don’t fight it, the healthcare workers who routinely abuse disabled people will be implementing it.
