Hey! I'm a reporter for Education Week working on a story. Any teachers/school leaders out there using the Taylor Swift deep fake situation to teach about news literacy and AI? Email me at akleinEducation Week.org and thank you!
Hey Valerie Brock I'm a reporter from Education Week. CS4All suggested I reach out to you for a story. If you can, please email me at [email protected] and thank you!
So apparently if you are in grade 3 through 5 and have perfect attendance at our Title I DC Public Schools about a 10 minute walk from the White House, your reward (this year) is to meet Kamala Harris!! At her house! Growing up in suburban Maryland, we got a sticker.
Teachers: Anyone think they can tell their own students' writing apart from something AI-generated? Would love to chat with you for a story. Please email [email protected] or DM me here.
Took the toddler to a Channukah play this weekend that featured a short, kid's version of the story A Parkeet Named Dreidel. It's got latkes, cute animals, adorable moppets, romance, the works. Hallmark Channel you should option it for your next Hannukah movie, pronto.
Hey teachers: What are your thoughts on A through F grading? Good way to get feedback to kids or not nearly nuanced enough? Email me at [email protected] or DM me here.
So fun having lunch with an old Education Writers Association friend! Love when you visit DC Toni Konz Tatman!
The toddler has reached the stage where he is constantly 'why?' questions. I know some parents find this mildly annoying and maybe I will too, someday, but for now, the reporter in me bursts with pride every time. cc: Education Writers Association
Follow Emma Kate Fittes and the EdWeek Market Brief team if you don't already! They are so good at helping me understand the intersection between business, tech, and education!
Teachers/educators: Got a good edtech 'horror story' for Halloween? I'm thinking kids throwing Chromebooks in toilets, tech suddenly melting down on test day, students hacking your computer system? Email me at [email protected] or DM me here. Thank you!
My son's DC Public Schools elementary has a 'kindness crew' of fifth graders who help with drop-off every morning. Seeing these kids so proud of themselves and eager to help in their bright green jerseys is definitely a great way to start my day.
Just emailed a work contact I knew from covering the Hill back when were both in our 20's and summed up the past decade and half plus of personal life developments this way: 'I'm now a married, mortgaged, middle-aged mom.' cc: Joseph Morton
Been off the federal beat for four years and finally deleted my Google alerts for U.S. Department of Education & the Every Student Succeeds Act.
Hey teachers! Do app notifications on student cellphones during class drive you up the wall? Have you found a workaround? Writing about this today and would love to chat. Please shoot me an email at [email protected] or DM me here.
