From war-torn Sierra Leone to the USA
I stand before you as a refugee
A First-Gen student
An MD-PhD graduate
A future Neurosurgeon-Scientist
I carry the hopes of many
Despite the odds,
I'm proof that dreams don't have borders
Proof that no obstacle is too great to overcome

Today I was told that I will be the first Guinean/Guinean-American to complete a combined MD-PhD in the USA

AND will be first to get into a neurosurgery residency in the US, as well

This is an honor & testament to the power of opportunities
