1) This is a historic job market w/unemployment under 4% for 27 months
2) Hiring is good, but slowing
3) Healthcare is now the major industry hiring
4) Wage growth is above inflation
5) Signs of cooling = temp help decline, avg work week down

Pretty much a goldilocks job report. 175K jobs is respectable at any time and in the context of strong prior months so a ~250K monthly average even more so.

Unemployment ticked up to 3.9%.

Earnings growth slowed.

Most reassuring data for the Fed in the last 2+ weeks.

I would put this in the 'win' column: April marked 40 consecutive months of nonfarm payrolls increasing by at least 100k

Unemployment rate has now been below 4% for *27 straight months*
Again, the last time this happened, Nixon was in office

With today's unemployment rate under 4%, the US ties the record for the longest, consecutive, monthly streak -- set in the late 1960s.
