The M74 northbound at J6 is in fact closed. The signs are telling the truth and GoogleMaps is oblivious, hopefully it's updated now as I just figured out how to report a road closure. Feeling smug.

Just got thru passport control & check in, now in the lane for boarding 30mins after entering port & on a boat nearly 2 hours earlier than booked. Thanks so much Irish Ferries & Port Boulogne Calais! Left our campsite at 6.30am so a simple arrival at port & earlier boat are much appreciated.

On our way to Brittany, started in Ashford before 6am. Long queues in Dover, in torrential rain, for the toll at Pont de Normandie and now in Caen. But an absolute magic moment came when the whole family sang along to Don't Stop Me Now by Queen. Fantastic.
