The thing is, we have a former President criminal defendant who is also a powerful propagandist. Anyone is susceptible to his rhetoric. Voters, judges, even juries. So when he walks out of court and gets to refute his charges it's a problem because HE IS A POWERFUL PROPAGANDIST.

'It happens all the time with famous people'? Trump's defense effectively doubling down on his Access Hollywood comment about being able to do whatever he wants bc he's famous is a weird take on criminal conspiracy charges

The Trump version of events that he's been peddling on Twitter and elsewhere is his criminal defense?!?! Oof.

The Prosecution's Opening:

'This case is about a criminal conspiracy. Trump orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election. Then he covered up that criminal conspiracy by lying in his NY business records over and over and over again.'

'The evidence will show that the defendant desperately did not want this information about Karen McDougal to become public' because he was concerned about how it would affect the election, Colangelo says.

Colangelo pivots to the Trump Tower meeting with Trump, Cohen, and David Pecker, the CEO of AMI, the National Enquirer's parent company.

Pecker would act as the 'eyes and ears' of the campaign to gather info that might be harmful to Trump's candidacy.
