Yesterday, SB 359 was introduced in the GA Senate, which would dramatically expand the state's RICO statute. It adds offenses such as loitering & unauthorized posting of flyers, when committed with a 'bias' against political beliefs, to the list of predicate charges for RICO.

I now go back to the district court and because of this, I’m limited in what I can say.

But the right to protest was not abolished in the 5th Circuit. The right to protest remains. Sotomayor’s note is important.

When this case is finally over, I’ll be able to say more.

Huge news: The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation has become the first federally recognized tribe to get a portion of their land back in Illinois. Illinois now has tribal lands.

academia attempts to kill every piece of your desire to be creative, imaginative, and deal with the messiness of human life. it really just makes you get to a point where you write bullshit articles so you can keep getting a paycheck.

Just got out of jail after Columbia called NYPD to mass arrest 100+ students. I have been suspended and evicted from housing by Barnard. This has only strengthened my commitment to the movement for Palestinian liberation and I promise to continue fighting for divestment.

Such a pleasure to have reconnected with professors today at my alma mater Humphrey School. Great to chat with students and to see the remarkable progress made in the policy and business schools.

Barnard rep just came in and said any barnard student that doesn’t leave by 9pm will be suspended have their ID deactivated and be evicted

Barnard is threatening students with homelessness to silence them!

Shame on Barnard. Shame on Columbia.

In Wisconsin, 46 out of 72 - or 64% - of jails have eliminated in-person visits for families. One county even rebuilt their jail without the infrastructure for in-person visits, meaning that even if they ever want to go back to the old policy, they can't.

For The Nation: Fearing legal threats, doctors are performing C-sections – which carry greater medical risk – in lieu of abortions. This 'disturbing' trend is emerging in *at least* Texas and Louisiana –– and experts predict it will become more common: thenation.com/article/societ…

When I joined CPJ a year ago, discussions about journalism & AI primarily revolved around whether AI would replace journalists, or if it would be utilized to target journalists with disinformation. Now, I'm looking at how AI has been employed to kill journalists.

Columbia has always had an incredible history of students fighting for a more just world and it’s good to see that tradition continue. As NYPD surrounds young activists, I hope their concerns are heard by school administrators and they not be criminalized. In solidarity ✊🏽

Last week, the House passed a bill that would reauthorize Section 702, expanding the government's ability to spy on us without a warrant. It now heads to the Senate. Our Senators must vote no on this terrifying expansion of government spying.

Meanwhile on campus, the Gaza Solidarity Encampment/Liberation Zone (harkening to a similar 1968 demo against the Vietnam War & segregation, which ended in NYPD mass arrests) has buckled down for the rain, converting 2 tents in the center of the lawn to an enclosed central hub.

Incredible news!

The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals has just ruled that Title IX protects transgender people, and that sports bans on transgender people violate the constitution.

This is a groundbreaking ruling that will be cited in other cases nationwide!
