Gated but sounds eerily like hypokalemic thyrotoxic periodic paralysis

Diagnosed this at 2am in the MICU during a 30h shift as an R2 in a young man who had profound muscle weakness after playing soccer

Had weight loss & fine tremor

K in 1s

Also triggered by large meals

Imagine equating ~4 months of NP clinical education to 2 years of clinical rotations as a medical student + 3-5 years of residency

Then imagine saying 2 more months is too burdensome

If you believe both of those, then I've got a bridge to nowhere to sell to you...

I wouldn't recommend it if it were free

This is appropriate level of skepticism, not nihilism

Drug that has no detectable benefit with serious harm signal require confirmatory trial and longer follow up

I agree

Would say negative

If feeling very lenient then inconclusive

Would definitely not look at those curves as a secondary outcome and declare success

Has anyone seen a trial that prohibited crossover?

If so, how is that ethical or allowed in the context of patient and physician autonomy to deviate?

Good thread on inpatient rehab

Post acute care is underappreciated since it's a black box to many

This tweet stands out

I trust researchers who are willing to be surprised

It's why they're called hypotheses

A thread about Medicare Advantage, its tendency to deny claims for post-acute care and rehabilitation for older Americans, and our new @JAGS paper.

Its complicated

Requires SDM and consideration of injection burden, costs, DVT risk factors

ASA may be preferred in many situations

🔥 by Rob Gallo, MD & Jonathan H Chen MD PhD

how did this get by peer review?

accounting for correlation of repeated prompts (rather than independent observations) nullifies statistical significance

of course you'd rather be 7th, then 8th, then 9th, then 10th

we don't need data for that

especially not when the N=9*

*6 first round play in games for 10th seed + 3 second round play in game
