The winter team had some down time to relax together and even had an Easter egg hunt in the Hillary Field Centre, which was taken out by Ruth and Catherine!

Did you know weddell seals use their teeth to make breathing holes in the ice? It’s time to celebrate these mammals who make themselves comfortable outside Scott Base every year. Happy international seal day! 🦭

The sun has set on a successful two month Ross Sea Voyage, with the Laura Bassi returning to Lyttelton. This Italian-New Zealand collaboration sailed into the heart of Antarctica's largest sea ice factory, a critical area to study given the retreat of sea ice.
