🚨 From today, the minimum income threshold for spouse visas rises from £18600 to £29,000 - pricing 50% of the UK population out of cross-border love.

In early 2025, the threshold will increase to £38,700 - around 70% of the UK population don't earn this.

Over the last decade, the Tories have rolled out policies which mean that only the highest 30% of earners can now bring their partner to join them in the UK.

We need to roll back these cruel rules, which are tearing families apart.

Blair Peach was born in New Zealand. In 1969, and moved to the UK with his partner, Celia. Peach taught at the Phoenix School in Bow in East London, a school for young children with special needs. #Defiance

I grew up with this image of Blair Peach, printed on a leaflet, kept in my family home. It had been picked up by my parents on an anti-racist march. We kept it for years.

Blair was remembered as a hero, and served as our (the children’s) first lesson in institutional racism
