For today's we're sharing something from the archives: in 1834 a clerk took a break from a Paget leasehold rental record to trace an outline of their onto the document. Always fun to break up your day with small craft activity!🖐️

It's time for ! This is (obviously) a mercury arc rectifier development anode at the High Voltage Test facility in Stafford: the picture shows light link telemetry measuring the current through the valve anode. Obviously. 👍

Day 12 of is a tricky decision: our stores are filled with weird and wonderful Staffordshire . Please admire the Bamfords Triumph Potato digger (c. 1930-1950): the spinning mechanisms flicked potatoes out of the soil ridges to be picked by hand.

Today's is about , so here is our popular palaeography activity. Each student 'translates' a replica copy of an 1820 prison report, grim details and all. Top tip: make your own replica documents by folding printer paper and rubbing it on a brick wall. 👍

One of the great things about packing up our collections ready to move is that we come across all sorts of hidden gems. These tiny illustrations of brooches are from order books in the Pidducks jewellers’ collection & range from simple and dainty designs to the somewhat garish!

This prompt is tricky, but our dolls always make me think of the valley hypothesis. Is anyone else a little unsettled by dolls, waxworks or puppets? This 1953 doll is striking!
