At a loss for words though we knew it was coming. The jaw dropping misogyny, denial of autonomy and dignity, and the soulless need to control and subjugate. I wrote this piece just over a month ago and hate to have to revisit it on this day.

-the avg min wage is $8.39 (v $11.48 elsewhere)
-10/26 haven't expanded Medicaid
-24/26 are anti-union “right-to-work” states
-the avg incarceration rate is 439/100k (v 272/100k)

yesterday was my last day in the chief economists office U.S. Department of Labor !! I’m so excited to be starting my PhD this fall at Princeton’s interdisciplinary program in Population Studies and Social Policy. Can’t wait to keep working on labor, economic mobility, and inequality 🎉

It's going to take both antidiscrimination enforcement and a stronger voice for workers in general to close racial gaps in wage growth. See our assessment here epi.org/236332

I’ve learned so much from my colleagues U.S. Department of Labor and prior Economic Policy Institute CLASP. I’ve been so lucky I got to work with people not only smart and passionate but who truly see the people, stories, and history beneath data and ec policies. It’s made me a better researcher.
