Bill 20 represents further escalation of the UCP’s efforts to undermine, control and scapegoat City Councils. The hostility we are seeing is part of a larger strategy to remake local government in their own image and bully us into submission. This is an attack on local democracy.

What if I started a post by saying I received an unsigned letter that alleges a MLA did something unethical? I hope you would call me irresponsible because suggesting that someone is doing something wrong without evidence and an investigation is harmful.

Edmonton lost a rare historic gem last night. Hangar 11 was one of the last of its kind in Western Canada. Constructed in 1942, it was a training ground for pilots during WWII, and has a rich history of connecting Edmonton to the international community. An irreplaceable loss.

Capilano Library has one of the great building approaches in Edmonton. Protection from precipitation, of course, but the coziness of the enclosure, the warmth of the wood, the cadence of the timbers, and the sharpness of the peak do good things to me as I enter.

The Provincial Priorities Act will profoundly stifle Edmonton’s ability to remain competitive and deliver a good quality of life for residents. Cities depend on strong partnerships with other orders of gov. Gatekeeping federal funding suppresses our economy and hurts us all.

The Government of Alberta pays to maintain Calgary’s Deerfoot Trail, but doesn’t pay the same maintenance for the Yellowhead or Whitemud.

Edmonton deserves a fair deal to maintain our provincial highways within city boundaries.

This doesn’t even include the additional 100,000 people that moved into Edmonton in the last 2 years. We have a lot of work to do in order to address this rapid population growth. cc andrewknack.ca/blog/readyforit
