Total Solar Eclipse and a newly discovered comet (sungrazer) during the eclipse on April 8, 2024. It’s not comet 12P/Pons-Brooks!

This is a first HDR created from 3% of all my exposures. The second image (cutout) shows the comet 💫

This is a view of Earth and the Moon captured from Saturn by the Cassini spacecraft on April 12, 2017

That's all of us from 1.43 billion kilometers away—specks of light inside the gap between two of Saturn's rings.📷🪐🌎🌕

Here's a closeup of the bright prominence that many people reported seeing with their naked eye during the eclipse. This was captured using two telescopes- at 2000mm and at 3650mm.

On April 9th, Juno flew by Io, moon of Jupiter, the last close flyby in the current mission extension, though there will be some distant ones. The images are truly spectacular, although it is bittersweet to not be looking forward to the next set of images.

Eclipse 2 of 3
Here are closeups of the eclipse as shot through my 150-600mm lens. While I used my 400mm telescope for capturing images in 2017, this time I used it for visual observations which was INCREDIBLE. I couldn’t believe how bright the Corona was in the eyepiece!

The moment of totality during an eclipse is such a magical moment.

Seeing that last diamond of sunlight vanish against the lunar limb, leaving the vivid prominences dancing against the faint corona. This is a short sequence of photos captured during the first minute, showing…

Totality: An HDR composite image of yesterday's eclipse. This photo used 5 cameras to capture thousands of photos during a 4 minute period.

My goal was to capture the magic of the visual experience, and I hope this photo evokes similar emotions I experienced while watching it.

This was possibly the best prepared eclipse ever and already iconic pictures were taken.

This is a plane flying through the totality in Jonesboro photographed by Kendall Rust.

Monday’s Total Solar Eclipse is the last one visible from America until 2044.

Here’s why eclipses are life changing for astronomers and non-scientists alike:
