22 April 1945 | Soviet & Polish soldiers liberated the #Sachsenhausen concentration camp. More than 200,000 people were imprisoned there between 1936-45. At least 30,000 people perished there (some estimates say about 50,000 victims). sachsenhausen-sbg.de/en/history/193… SachsenhausenMemorial
22 April 1915 | A Czech Jewish woman, Greta Haková, was born in Prague.
She was deported to #Auschwitz from the #Theresienstadt ghetto on 28 October 1944. She did not survive.
Delegations of local communities, municipalities & Auschwitz Memorial commemorated today the 83rd anniversary of the expulsions of Polish civilians from Brzezinka & surrounding area due to the expansion of the German camp Auschwitz.

In June 1944 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.
22 April 1875 | A Dutch Jew, Israel van Voolen, was born in Amsterdam. A merchant.
On 7 November 1942 he was murdered in a gas chamber in #Auschwitz II-Birkenau.
