Wild Justice on Farming Today discussing DEFRA's unlawful gamebird release licences.

Protect high conservation value wild birds from risk of contracting rampant avian flu or protect the interests of gamebird shooters? Hmm, tricky decision, eh?

Been listening to Farming Today on the impact of the wettest winter in years. Crops aren’t being planted, animals not let out to graze. Millions being spent compensating farmers for flooding. This is a very real and very current cost of climate change.

Dr Harriet Bartlett (who lectures for our food systems, health and environment series) was interviewed on Farming Today about her new study published in Nature Food that evaluates different methods of pig-farming. Listen at bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

Stark recognition on Farming Today of food security risks of climate change. Eg Oilseed rape will be 38% down this year but olive oil for import is shooting up in price due to drought.
Vegetable supply also an issue due to rain/floods this year.

We were on Farming Today this morning, maintaining our position that Defra UK 's unlawful decisions on gamebird releases were tainted by the appearance of bias. Defra refutes this, but even their civil servants had warned Ministers about it!

Rosie P 🍃💚🍃🌳🚲💧 Farming Today I don’t know why Govt won’t listen. They should listen to people in the food industry & learn just how fragile our food chains can be. Even in a normal year there are challenges, customers just don’t see what goes on behind the scenes.

Fantastic to be visited recently by Cazgraham and Emma Campbell from BBC Radio 4 Farming Today “On Your Farm” Programme. We chatted all about our work showing how nature restoration and hill farming, can work hand in hand. Catch it here: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
