What's the best exercise for longevity?

In one study they found the following associations:

Strength only= 9-22% lower mortality risk
Aerobic only= 24-34% lower risk
Both = 41-47% lower risk

Shoutout to Marco Altini, PhD and Alex Predhome for stellar races at Boston.

I’m sure there are more people I follow who raced today. Sorry if I missed ya but tag yourself!

This.

I weigh myself rarely if ever.

Personal reasons: I can get obsessive over it in ways that aren’t healthy.

Also: huge swings due to hydration, etc.

The mirror is good enough feedback for me. 🤣

I bought this Gu soft flask to try for fueling on runs. It holds up to 5 gels.

But it sucks.

It’s hard to get the gel out and unless there’s a lot inside, it’s hard to consume.

I’ll stick to tearing off the tops of the individual gels and eating them that way. Much easier.

I train on my bike a lot.

But nearly all of it is inside on the trainer.

Why don’t I ride outside?

1. Safety

For me it’s not worth the risk. I have a kid. I have a wife. We live in a big city and I’m not taking the chance of getting hit.

2. Time

A 2-hour ride inside is…

A solid week of training. 🚴🏻🏃🏻

Almost 40 miles of running (three runs of 10, 7, and 21 miles)

Just under 8 hours on the bike trainer.

Lots of walking as usual.

3 weeks until project piggy. 🐷
