WOMAN DIES AFTER CASTING VOTE : One woman voter, G Vijaya Lakshmi (65), Uppal, Hyderabad collapsed after casting her vote at Andhra Yuvathi Mandali polling booth No. 349. Immediately she was shifted to a private hospital in Uppal where doctors declared her dead due heart attack.

FESTIVAL OF DEMOCRACY TOMORROW :
All set for Polling to 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana on May 13, 2024. Polling staff after collecting the polling material from DRC centres are going to their respective polling stations. Polling will start from 7 AM and ends at 6 PM.

In a bid to demonstrate voting importance even if they are a few voters in Polling Stations, ECI is setting up 90 PSs in remote areas in Telangana for Lok Sabha polls on May 13, 2024. These 90 PSs have 10 to 100 voters in each for which arrangements were made by Telangana CEO.

One spell of heavy rains two days ago in Hyderabad saw over 200 trees mostly Peltophorum pterocarpum (Konda Chinta), Delonix regia (Gulmohar) getting uprooted or their big branches getting crashed on roads. Despite this, the said trees are being planted on either sides of roads.

In the light of ensuing monsoon season, Town Planning wing officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have been instructed by GHMC Commissioner, Ronald Rose to survey all dilapidated buildings in Hyderabad and submit a report by May 18, 2024.

Barring Maoist-affected Assembly constituencies in the state, the ECI has decided to increase the polling hours in 17 Parliamentary Constituencies by an additional one hour (from 7 am to 6 pm). A notification to this effect was issued by the ECI on Wednesday.

About 428 nominations filed by 268 candidates mostly independents were rejected during scrutiny of nomination papers for 17 Lok Sabha seats. Of 1,488 nominations, 1,066 nominations were accepted from validly 625 candidates. Last date for withdrawal is April 29. Poll on May 13.

A total of 1,488 nominations were filed by 895 candidates between April 18 to 25, 2024 for the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana which will go to polls on May 13, 2024. Highest numbers of 177 nominations by 114 candidates were received from Malkajgiri LS.
