Pilgrims to the Shrine of St Cuthbert gave gifts to honour the saint e.g. gorgeous embroidered vestments from King Athelstan in 934. These were found in Cuthberts coffin when opened in 1827 and are now in Open Treasure museum Durham Cathedral 😍
