30 years ago - April 14th, 1994 - Robert Osborne signed @TCM on the air by throwing a big, fake switch in NY. 30 years later, the 5 of us (& this photobombing interloper) are 4 days away from our 15th Film Festival. I’ve also included a photo of me going over my bets on set.

When TCM was officially launched in Times Square 30 years ago on this day in 1994, Ted Turner and Robert Osborne were joined by Hollywood legends for the big moment. The date was selected to coincide with the centennial anniversary of the first public movie showing in NYC.

Really makes history come alive.

As a former reporter, I love the fake newspaper stories in movies. Found this beaut in Silence of The Lambs. All 3 articles on the page, including the one on Hannibal Lecter, have the same nonsense graph beginning w/ “thus at the conference” & ending w/ “were further improved.”

I mean…on the portrait alone.
