On the edge of the increasing Welsh & Cotswolds populations, #Worcs has been a little slow to keep up the pace as seen in other areas. But the increase in Red Kite records in the last five years has been dramatic. A visualisation using the power of BirdTrack data #Worcs Birds

One of the team was on Arran over the weekend and saw their first Sand Martin of the year! All reported on BirdTrack which of course was soon picked up by Jim Cassels! Also nice to hear a noisy Heronry with young squawking away!

Had a fantastic day with the BTO Cymru Regional Network on Saturday in Newtown. It was truly lovely getting the team together, as well as thinking of new ways to support our volunteers and to bring birding to new and diverse audiences across Wales.

Our daily bird census counts have begun this month!! Since March 1st, we have seen the first few migrants passing through the island, including Stonechat, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, and Linnet. It won't be long before our first Wheatear arrives.

A misty morning spent doing bird surveys for Wilder Doddington. 29 species BirdTrack Highlights were a flock of c60 Yellowhammers, 1 Stonechat & 1 Snipe. Doddington Hall Lincsbirding BTO Lincolnshire

The little Siskin is one of our smallest finches, weighing only 13 grams!

They are more conspicuous in colder months when our resident birds are joined by migrants from Europe. Listen for their chatty gangs on alders, birches and pine trees and report sightings on BirdTrack.

Out in continuous rain this morning at #LepeCP , completed my 100th BirdTrack lists of 2024. 28 lists with Firecrest against 56 with Goldcrest and Woodpigeon was the only species to make every list. Almost all lists from S. Hants and the majority coastal.

Lots of 'extras', including option to add breeding evidence and 📌 individual records. No distance bands, so not suitable for line transects/point counts.
