One of the biggest public communication failures of our times is old-school media painting the climate crisis as the 'environmentalists'' problem. Like COVID was just a doctors' & nurses' problem; the rest of us could just continue life as usual with blinders on by ignoring it.

The DOE has released a Communications and Marketing toolkit for the Home Energy Rebates. It looks excellent! There are handouts, videos, and even templates for billboards. I bet states and local communities will want to customize them.

Much of the climate conversation is about amping up concern and free-floating anxiety, without talking about solutions.

(Not a complaint about Dr Volts obviously)

But good architecture and good urban design is about the details rather than the grand projects.

It almost sounds silly, but beautifully-designed air conditioning units could go a long way to improving the appearance of our homes and cities — and thus the wellbeing of humanity.

There's no way to get to net zero without a massive retrofitting exercise of existing homes. The US has 130 million homes and only 1.5 million new homes are built each year, which means left to only new building standards, it'll take 100 years for the existing stock to turn over.

Please recommend a good podcast on how climate advocates can accelerate action.

I want theories of change, data about how well particular actions work, case studies of effective advocacy, etc.

Electrification in the US is still in its infancy.

There is huge potential for electrifying much of industry, buildings and transport.
