We have recently moved house, but the weather prevented me from seeing the sunrise until yesterday, and how cleverly the house is aligned on it at this time of year. ArkleBoyceArchitects have built a wonderful house, and we already love it!
Hi Electronic Sound ! I’ve been with you since issue 20 or thereabouts, and there have been so many highlights. But this. This is the issue I’ve been waiting for!! Thank you!!!
1st bluebell of the year in March, in Yorkshire! Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Howsham wood, near Malton.
Halfway through Science Week and the excitement is on a high! Experiments have ranged from pendulum timers, to marble run races!
A massive thank you to Mike Shaw from Bootham School, who has come up and tutored our children, inspiring them so brilliantly along the way!
Our first ever Astronomy trip to Bootham School was an absolute blast! From crater experiments to star-gazing, Mike Shaw from @boothamschool School guided us through a universe of wonders, read more on our website, mowdenhallpst.org/news-and-event…
Thank you for hosting Bootham School.
I hosted the wonderful York ISSP GCSE astronomers this evening at the Bootham School observatory. Cloudy weather didn't stop them from getting a decent shot of Jupiter through the 1854 Cooke refractor. Not bad for a 169 year old instrument! Royal Astronomical Society
A walk with Rosie led to an arresting Advent sight this evening. Howsham Mill looking like a model of itself, or perhaps a Christmas cake, in a light dusting of snow.
A stellar experience for 12 lucky pupils on our overnight trip to Bootham Observatory Bootham School. They dove into astrophotography and were allowed to play with the observatory's hardware and software, opening up a world of possibilities for their curiosity and exploration.
I spent Sunday night with some old friends. Four telescopes, plenty of #Astronomy chat and a clear sky. Here’s a much older friend! Jupiter is showing clearly as a brilliant light in the south-east soon after sunset…
I’m giving some talks on Astronomy at Kitebrook Preparatory School tomorrow, staying in Moreton in Marsh. Today, I set myself a 14 mile potter to #Adlestrop , #Chastleton Barrow hill fort and NTChastleton. Birdsong, hot dry winds and wooded blue hills rolling in all directions. Lovely.
Getting ready for a Bootham School observatory night (4 this week). Our yrs 7,8 and 9 are coming in 3 batches - #saturn , the #moon and a good pass of the #iss are on the menu. Our 1856 Cooke refractor will be the star of the show once again! #astronomy RAS Outreach York Astro
Up very early today to see if I could spot comet #nishimura . Unfortunately, the clouds only started to part as the eastern sky got too bright for a good sighting. Still, a nice view for all that...
The last sunset of a wonderful summer holiday. Back to Bootham School tomorrow, and a new academic year..
