As we begin #PoliceWeek , 26 roses are placed at the center of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial to honor the loyal K9s that we lost in 2023. We remain forever grateful for their service.

Tonight in our Nation’s Capitol, BPD Officers Quintyn Pilgrim, Carlton Williamson, Chris Kerrigan and MSP Trooper Dave Frederick were honored and recognized among the nation’s best and bravest at NAPO’s Annual TOP COPS Awards ceremony.

To honor the heroism of Officer Michael Crowley, a Hero Sign is posted on River Street in Mattapan to forever commemorate the memory of a man who gave his life in service to his city on May 12, 1961. 63-years later, we renew our promise and pledge to never forget him.

Just over a century ago, a brave man died protecting and serving our city. Today we renew our promise and pledge to never forget the service and sacrifice of BPD Officer Peter P. Oginskis, 27, who was killed in the line of duty on May 5, 1923.

In honor and remembrance of Billerica Police MA Sgt. Ian Taylor, who was killed in the line of duty performing a public safety detail on April 26, 2024, flags on all BPD facilities will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 3, 2024.
