iPhone : A new battle for the union is on. Scotland - as a country - will be getting same as any UK region. But most direct from UK gvt: just a tiny amount done via devolved offices. SNP presents this as Scotland getting Β£21m. It'll be closer to 100x that. Can unionists make this case? twitter.com/KateForbesMSP/…

iPhone : Speaking to the Bruges Group on Friday, Professor Patrick Minford CBE proposed β€œa cocktail of pro-entrepreneur tax cuts,” including corporation and personal income tax, which he believes would increase economic growth and be of particular benefit to the North of the country.

iPhone : Great to pop down to wagamama uk after the statement today.

They’ve already bought more than 2,000 staff back from furlough and will be one of the many restaurants to benefit from the VAT cut and β€˜Eat Out to Help Out’ vouchers.

iPhone : β€œWhat they can’t achieve in an independent, free enterprise Britain, they can hope to secure in a Euro-federalist Britain, whose people’s instincts are ignored and whose parliamentary institutions are over-ridden.”

- Margaret Thatcher, 1996

iPhone : UK/EU Trade Negotiations are today underway in London.

Previously, they took place exclusively in Brussels, on the EU’s terms, with the UK often treated like a nuisance province.

So today’s talks are symbolic indeed.

iPhone : Chancellor Rishi Sunak announces that VAT is to be cut to 5% on food, accommodation and attractions in a bid to help the hospitality sector recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

A bold move and fantastic news.

iPhone : The President and First Lady celebrate 4th of July at The White House. America will always be your greatest ally πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

iPhone : "We don’t surrender our money, we don’t surrender our borders, we don’t surrender our laws, we don’t put ourselves back under the jurisdiction of their court after we’ve properly left and we don’t give away our fish,” said Sir John Redwood, addressing the Bruges Group on Friday.

iPhone : Democrats are pushing the lie that moral value corresponds to skin color. Some races, they tell us, are inherently good. Others are inherently bad. This is the very definition of racism. It’s poison.

iPhone : Little project Ive been working on in my spare time: 1 minute video, with one photograph from every year from 1900 up until 2020.

Its a pretty cool way of looking at the history of the last 120 years.

iPhone : This is the problem. Everyone says "we need to learn the lessons form our Covid response". Boris says "we found many care homes didn't follow procedures". Everyone goes mad. Why don't we actually see if he's right. Because if he is, that's one way we save lives in the future.

iPhone : 15 years ago, 52 innocent people died in a series of terror attacks in London.

Whatever you're doing today, please take a moment at 11.30 to mark a minute's silence in memory of those who did not make it, and to think of those who still bear the scars of that day.

iPhone : Today, the UK will impose sanctions independently and is expected to target individuals accused of human rights abuses.

Leaving the EU means that we are now in a position to act unilaterally and impose sanctions in defence of our values as we see fit.
