In 1939 Labour expelled Bevan for multiparty campaigning against the Nazis. In ‘44 the PLP suspended him for backing the right to strike. In ‘55 he had the whip withdrawn for opposing the Bomb. There are 2 Labour traditions Wes comes from one Bevan & the Left come from the other!

🔴I'd love to know if Natalie Elphicke or Dan Poulter were lured with Labour offering a peerage. Otherwise, in Elphicke's case, it's hard to explain why she joined Labour & not Reform. If I were still a TV reporter I'd pursue this relentlessly with Elphicke & with Labour.

I’m delighted that the whip has been restored to Kate Osamor. To further help restore Labour’s standing in the Black community the leadership must do likewise for Diane Abbot the first black woman elected to parliament and the longest-serving black MP.
