iPhone : Many other factors have contributed to COVID19 outbreaks in care homes. We’ve reported on them extensively.

Tragically more than 11,000 care home residents in the UK have now died.

iPhone : UK Government guidance from March 2 said ‘negative tests’ were ‘not required’ before transferring hospital patients to care homes.

The guidance stood until mid-April.

iPhone : On March 17 NHS chief Simon Stevens said 30,000 NHS beds could be freed up by actions including ‘urgently discharging’ patients.

iPhone : We asked the UK government and all devolved governments how many patients had been discharged to care homes without testing.

None of them could tell us.

iPhone : Testing is now required before hospital discharge to care homes.

46% of all COVID19 deaths in Scotland have been in care homes.

Around 1,600 care home residents in Scotland have died.

iPhone : As for the ‘Mobilisation Plans’ from across Scotland detailing how many care home beds were bought for hospital patients and at what cost..

NHS Lanarkshire says it’s been advised by the Scottish Government ‘not to publish every version of the plan.’

iPhone : At this point I’d like to tell you what Health Protection Scotland (now PHS) guidance said at the time about the issues raised here.

I can’t because they’ve removed it from their website and will not disclose it.

iPhone : They don’t know if the outbreak at the home was seeded by the hospital patient because that person wasn’t tested on discharge.

Charlie speaks highly of his NHS colleagues and his own staff for containing the virus and becoming COVID-free again.

iPhone : Charlie Allan is the manager of a care home in Hamilton that had no cases when it took a patient from hospital in March.

There was a COVID19 outbreak at the home soon after. One resident died.
