TweetDeck : Ian Jeremy Vine It is not an offence to walk in the carriageway, so it's lawful and acceptable to walk the bike through a junction. In practice it's rarely worth it.
TweetDeck : David Brody It's a piece of plastic, you bizarre thumper.

TweetDeck : Jez Higgins First day back after a fortnight on furlough. Actually been really busy! Because of the ice the other week I was riding in down Moseley Road instead. I was jumping off and running those temporary lights by the Print Works, just because.
TweetDeck : Katy I think I started to see that when he started mucking about with penny farthings. He's an idiot magnet though.
TweetDeck : S N Pearse. (Steve) Jeremy Vine As an experienced car and van driver, and cycle user I'm competent at assessing personal risk and so to others. If other drivers get angsty because somebody uses the flexibility of cycling to their advantage, they're probably not suited to the responsibility of holding a licence.
Twitter Web App : Mark Nightingale Jeremy Vine No. I mean, you've passed a driving test right; you know that's an offence? Not in proper control for a start. There's no offence of walking with a bike.
TweetDeck : Sorry I'm replying to all of the oddballs replying to JVs post but there really is some hopeless ignorance on show.
Twitter Web App : Ian Jeremy Vine Wrong.
Twitter Web App : Mike Annan Jeremy Vine That's a weird take. The whole point of cycling is being able to walk as well.
TweetDeck : S N Pearse. (Steve) Jeremy Vine Citation needed.
Twitter Web App : Nic Jeremy Vine Theres no such thing as cyclists v drivers except among those who show an irrational dislike of active travel. You might like the police and government line on unnecessary legislation to placate some of those cranks.
Twitter Web App : Simon Rogers Jeremy Vine To stop vehicles. Pedestrians aren't vehicles but it's easier to stop the vehicle before dismounting, so objective attained.
Twitter Web App : Marcus Hobling Jeremy Vine No, because you're not in proper control of a motor vehicle whereas a person pushing a cycle is a pedestrian. "Entitled prat!" pic.twitter.com/wConROyRJM
Twitter Web App : gary logan Jeremy Vine The light doesn't have to be green at pedestrian crossings. Pedestrians can go at any time (including mounted cycles at toucan crossings).
TweetDeck : OnYourBike π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ revchips Jeremy Vine So do I. Van too. Jaywalking laws criminalise crossing the road where convenient, with absolutely zero evidence of improved safety.
Twitter Web App : S N Pearse. (Steve) Jeremy Vine There's no muddying of waters. It's illegal to ride across a red light. It's not illegal to dismount before the line and push it across. There's nothing in the Highway Code about road users having to earn acceptance. That's not for you to judge. They're there. Deal with it.
Twitter Web App : Elizabeth Jeremy Vine They are obeying the law by dismounting and continuing as a pedestrian. If that annoys a motorist then they are clearly prone to road rage and would immediately fail a driving test on displaying anger.
