I think that may be another part of the challenge - there are so many social media possibilities now that it is hard to find one that many people are on to foster chats.

I imagine that life and increased work demands have also reduced some participation, especially as there has been more attention on work-life balance and protecting time.

One of the things we're experiencing as moderators is fewer people and organizations submitting proposals to host I imagine that some of that is due to people scaling back their use of Twitter/X but not 100% sure.

Hi, Scott! I'm hearing similar things from many people (spending less time on Twitter/X) as well as changes in what people are seeing now vs in the past.

This was so much fun tonight !! What would be even MORE fun is if folks signed up to host a future chat! Anyone can do it and you will get help from all of us here The SSChat Network ... sschat.org/host-a-sschat/

A5) No school here. We experienced a partial eclipse in 2017 and the local schools were in session. The middle school science teachers said that they had students go out in shifts to view as they didn't have enough eclipse glasses for everyone.

A4) I've been teaching middle school science the last two weeks (and will be for the rest of the school year) so we've been talking a lot about the eclipse. No school today but I'll be excited to see what they thought about it when I see them again tomorrow.

A3) I've used the incremental revealing of historical images with students before. Got the idea from Ryan O'Donnell. Also saw Glenn Wiebe use it to great effect in a session at NCSS last fall.

A2) I'm not familiar with many specific stories from history about eclipses but I definitely wondered, after experiencing a total eclipse today, how people in the past without prior knowledge of an eclipse would have likely been very freaked out by them.
