An introduction to the basic institutions and principles of American government with particular attention to constitutional foundations, historical development, and the linkages between those institutions and the public.

March 5, 1770 – A mob surrounded and harassed nine British soldiers, who in the confusion fired on the crowd, killing five people. The Boston Massacre was a crucial point in the build up to the American Revolution, as it served to sway public opinion against the British.

Meet our new professor, Dr. Gustafson, who specializes in Political Theory and 19th-century political thought. She attended Davidson College majoring in History, earned an MA in History of Political Thought while in London, and got a PhD in Political Theory at Harvard University.
