Reducing early readmissions is a key quality measure for healthcare systems nationally, but is this appropriate in cirrhosis care? My argument to move beyond readmissions to time at home as a patient-centered and pragmatic quality measure in cirrhosis care

I support routine family meetings to provide updates, understand patient values, etc.

I am not, however, a supporter of repeatedly meeting with family to hammer them about code status and withdrawal of support.

You build rapport in one, destroy it in the other.

This is wonderful thank you for posting Arpan Patel, MD PhD (he/him/his). Very proud of this work and our team—I look forward to continuing to learn together how palliative care can best support people facing liver disease, their families, and healthcare professionals caring for them.
