Good morning #bfc530 ! I'm Carla from Santo Domingo. Regular day for us - unfortunately, we're not in the path of the eclipse.

We live in such a divide world & I think this is reflected in our school communities. Ps don't realize that they're constantly modeling communication skills for their kids. Is this what they want them to learn?

Are any of you on LinkedIn - I'm discovering a fairly educator PLN there. I get lots of ideas, but not much in the way of discussion. Nothing has replaced Twitter for that. threads came the closest but the limited hashtags & disorganized feeds made chats impossible.

Our school uses Facebook & Insta to show parents what's going on in the school. This seems to work much better than newsletters or emails.

Good morning #pd4uandme friends! Happy I can join you before running off to watch our young entrepreneurs sell their wares at a local mall.

We held our student-led parent conferences yesterday . There is so much to love about this process! Not only do students feel empowered but it helps foster a sense of community, reaffirming our shared goal of ensuring that our children thrive.

Massachusetts spends more than $30 million in taxpayer money each year to administer the MCAS test in schools across the Commonwealth. Imagine if we invested that money in teachers and programs that offered targeted instruction to help students learn and move forward. #bfc530

A3 Two years ago our student-led think tank did a huge inquiry into how our school could change. They presented to Ps & Ts, truly igniting change. Our project days, passion pursuit classes, longer breaks, multi-age advisories, etc all come from their initiative.

A2: I love it when Ps get involved to take learning deeper. Ex: a father at the school brought our 5th - 6th grade aviation Ss to the airport to try out the simulators. These are magical moments for Ss.

Agree... Ts can make incredible change at a grass roots level that hugely impacts education.

A1 - for me it's collaboration, across grade levels & subject areas. We do a school wide PBL for our independence day. For 6 weeks Ss take a critical look at the DR & then put together an amazing show. So much work... but the deepest learning of the year.

Celebrations of learning empower Ss by putting the focus on the learning, not the grades. They give Ss space to reflect on their growth, identify areas for improvement & set new goals.
