Heroes one of the greatest shows of the 2000s and it never recovered from the writer’s strike in 2007. I wonder what shows have been dealt similar fatal blows this time?

This dude’s biggest mistake is that he thought people were as obsessed with Twitter as he was and now he watches helplessly as key users and brands are saying adios 👋🏾

NYT really ran an article claiming Tucker was fired because Fox News execs found out he was racist. Like they never watched his show?

The stock of Chegg, a company that provides homework help as a service, has dropped -50% as the CEO admits that ChatGPT is making their business obsolete.

This is only the first of many companies that will be disrupted by generative AI. This is truly an iPhone moment for tech.

Every field of knowledge work is going to face this dilemma. The main difference is that writers for TV shows and movies have a union while a lot of workers in other industries will simply have no choice as the AI tsunami washes over them.

Knowledge workers will be the new Luddites. The same way craftsmen pushed back against the rise of machines automating manufacturing is how we will see pushback on automating knowledge work.

The difference now is there's no story around what comes next for human jobs.

I've written about how AI would turn make all knowledge work look like the language translation industry where well-paid skilled knowledge work became editing content generated by AI.

However I thought this would take a few years from ChatGPT's launch not a few months.

Hollywood screenwriters are on strike and one of the key reasons is they want guarantees around AIs not being used to turn their jobs into “gig work” where they simply edit content created by AI.

The world has changed rapidly in less than a year.

I would never have guessed that successful regional banks was a zero interest rate phenomenon.

You shouldn’t upload your company’s private data to ChatGPT or Google Bard in much the same way you shouldn’t tell your company secrets to Alexa.

This isn’t newsworthy, it’s common sense. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

First killing 3rd party clients and now killing 3rd party integrations by overpricing access to the API.

Some of these decisions are so bad, even if you were trying to deliberately devalue Twitter they seem like overkill. At least now there's Bluesky🤷

Apple's new savings accounts that provide 4.15% interest rates got almost $1B in deposits in less than a week.

With the background of regional banks failing as people pull their deposits as they seek safety and yield, Apple is coming for everyone's necks.
