If courts continue to adopt the approach of having the facts of a case summarised, thereby greatly reducing what is said in open court, because all documents relied upon are on the digital case system then the media should be given access to them under the open justice principle.

Publishing executive died in ski cliff plunge✍️ for The Times and The Sunday Times with Kieran Gair

This was an 'inquest in writing' where the coroner believes there is no real prospect of disagreement as to the inquest’s determinations or findings and no public interest would be served by a hearing

First time reporting on an 'inquest in writing'. These were introduced in June 2022 and mean inquests can be concluded in private. Although journalists are permitted to obtain a copy of written conclusions, they contain few details.

I just turned down some work with a well-known magazine, as their rates are £50 per 600 words LESS than they paid me 14 years ago.

Are there any other industries that pay their workers less now than in 2010?
