Android : Following our internal review of the incident in Central Park yesterday, we have made the decision to terminate the employee involved, effective immediately. We do not tolerate racism of any kind at Franklin Templeton.

Android : James Birch Kat Cole Geoff Lewis Self-serving perhaps but as an ex-consultant for 12+ years, the answer, and key to disrupting management consulting (an enormous target for "disruption") lies in open source. So much of the proprietary "best practices models" that mint partners can & should just be open source.

Android : Jim Crist-Harif I implemented all sorts of nonsense in Java (vector math, image rendering, nonlinear regression) because they didn't teach us how to use maven in any of the first three CS Java courses. Also didn't know that python (numpy, scipy, matplotlib) was a thing back then.

Android : Can I make it an auto-reply for like all the visualization tool fights? They're basically all very good for the use cases they were designed for and varying shades of less good for everything else. twitter.com/Chemisist/stat…

Android : Hannah What if we made a "it's not a competition" Twitter bot that did this for all the pointless debates. Seaborn vs ggplot. Python vs R. Pip vs conda. Vim vs emacs (πŸ’₯)

Android : I'm stealing "writing software isn't a competitive sport" next time the "pip vs conda" debate comes up. twitter.com/michaelwaskom/…

Android : What's your programming language history?
1997: HTML (πŸ˜‚)
2003: python 1.? (Freshman physics)
2008-2013: Java/C/CUDA (grad school researchware)
2014- : Python/Bash
2020: yaml twitter.com/mrocklin/statu…

Android : Programming in bash is like rubbing a cat's tummy. You know it's going to end with bloodshed, but you also know you're going to do it again.

Android : Get ready for this to become a common practice. Please, I'm begging you, organize your workplace or get your unions talking about this shit ASAP. You make the company the same amount of money no matter where you do it, and should be paid appropriately. twitter.com/conorsen/statu…

Android : Paul Ganssle Gil Forsyth Yeah fair enough. It's also easy to throw stones at libraries I'm not maintaining. This conversation does make me want to add a new mental linter to API designs that I do have control over to check for common English misspellings in variable/function/etc names

Android : Paul Ganssle Gil Forsyth Oh neat thanks for hunting that down. It's a disappointing reaction from the devs for sure. Arbitrarily picking one spelling out of a grab bag of equivalent spellings and forcing users to conform to your arbitrary choice is a bummer

Android : I'm giving a talk on "Who uses Dask?" at #AnacondaCon2020 and I'd love for you to be in it.

If you have a moment to upload an image and high level description of how your group uses Dask I'd appreciate a few minutes of your time here: forms.gle/inmZHPFowzeYN3…

Thanks!

Twitter Web App : Like. I'll even think about it. Sound it out in my head. And still spell it wrong πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
