The difference a gate can make! A supporter thanked us as they can now enjoy walking their dog, stile free in Great Missenden. It's our hardworking volunteers who not only install the gates but also work with land owners and trusts to plan the replacement of stiles.

We had a successful work party as part of our River Chess Smarter Water Catchment Project on Saturday at Sarratt Bottom. Our Ranger, Nick with help from R. Chess Association and volunteers from Sarratt Bottom nature reserve installed a weir to help control the flow of water.

Our Wildbelt Volunteers were busy last Thursday restoring a neglected vegetable bed at John Hampden School in Wendover. The school were delighted with the results and the beds are now ready for planting with the children. Great work in the community thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund London & South

Yesterday we celebrated as our South Chiltern Path Maintenance volunteers installed their 400th gate! On the Chiltern Way and in the heart of the busy Merrimoles Dairy Farm on the Nettlebed estate, the team raised a toast to mark the momentous occasion.

This Sunday we have a glorious 5 mile walk that offers fine views, starting in Little Gaddesden.

Keen as ever to keep the paths in The Chilterns open and clear, 16 North Chilterns Path Maintenance Volunteers returned to Apsley between Featherbed Lane and Ruckers Lane on a damp and greying Wednesday morning last week to clear pathways and steps. Great job as always 👏

Last week we planted 220 trees – a mix of cherry, lime, hazel, hornbeam and field maple at our site, Captain's Wood. This is part of recent woodland management works to ensure the long-term health of the woodland and was supported by the Chess Smarter Water Catchment Project.

Lacey Green windmill is open to the public today between 2-5 pm.

Come and see the oldest surviving smock mill in England and find out about the renovation work we are fundraising for to preserve this iconic landmark.
