Indiana is leading the nation in closing the FAFSA filing gap, moving from 39th in 2023 to a top 10 state for FAFSA submissions and completions in 2024.

Today, I traveled to Northwest Indiana to connect with local leaders including NPR’s Dee Dotson, Hobart Supt. Peggy Buffington, St. Mary’s Health CEO Janice Ryba, Calumet College Pres. Amy McCormack, Gary Mayor Eddie Melton (nice surprise), others and, of course, great students.

Today’s Weldon Conference discussed the critical pipeline of higher education to the workforce, centered on the pivotal work underway to advance Indiana's vision to become a global hub for business innovation and growth, driven by the power of our human capital.

My second State of Higher Education address earlier today was one of HOPE. Enrollment trends increased and policies and initiatives are making a positive impact. Last year was the wake-up call, this year the data tell us we are on the right path, but work remains.

It was an honor to be a panelist at the University of Indianapolis Corporate and Community Breakfast this morning and engage in conversations with employers and community leaders about opportunities facing Indiana’s workforce and higher education landscape. HOPE grows in IN!

Filing the FAFSA is key for Hoosier students seeking to access Indiana’s &400 million+ in state financial aid, as well as federal aid & other scholarships. With less than 3 weeks until the priority deadline, it is important to file new, easy-to-complete form ASAP.
