The Magnolia x soulangeana in Golders Hill Park looking lovely as ever early Spring! This bright beauty really heralds the spring in the UK and is one of the showiest of all the Magnolias.

We have around 22 types of breeding butterflies on the Heath. A member of the public recently recorded eggs from the Brown Hairstreak butterfly which is the first record of this type breeding on the Heath.

🔊 Sound on! A woodpecker spotted drumming away in Golders Hill Park!

The first drums are usually heard in early January, and they will continue until June.

Heron near the sandy Heath!

Did you know Herons have a unique hunting technique called “bill vibrating”. When hunting in shallow waters, herons will rapidly vibrate their bills to mimic the movement of insects, luring them closer and making them easier to catch.

We are happy to say #Keats House Museum is open on Easter Sunday! 11-1 and 2-5pm, so combine it with a walk on Hampstead Heath, we are only 5 minutes from East Heath Car Park! #EasterWeekend

This inconspicuous 1mm white dot is the egg of a brown hairstreak butterfly, recorded for the first time on Hampstead Heath by Rohan Harris. We are hoping this species begins to flourish on Hampstead Heath to add to the 25 species regularly recorded here. 🦋
