The City of Galveston is performing rail track maintenance and has pulled the steel wheel trolleys out of service. The rubber wheel trolleys will operate along the rail trolley routes until the rail work is completed.
Look for the trolleys below operating along these routes.

Please be aware of the following TXDOT closure this weekend overnight on Saturday.

On Saturday (12/2/2023), two northbound I-45 lanes will be closed between Tiki Island and Bayou Vista from 8 p.m., Saturday to 5 a.m., Sunday (12/3/2023).

Thursday's trash route will be collected on Friday this week so crews can celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. All other routes will be picked up on the normal schedule.

City facilities will be closed on Friday, November 10 for Veterans Day. This closure will not impact trash services.

We're hosting an open house meeting on the South Shore drainage project on Tuesday, October 17 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Galveston Island Convention Center. There will be presentations on the project and staff will be available to answer questions.

We're under a coastal flood statement for high tides. The high tide makes it difficult for any amount of rain to clear off quickly so you will likely see some pooling around the island. Be careful when driving and avoid creating wake, which can damage vehicles and property.

The rail trolleys are back in business after repairs to the track! Fare is just $1 and the trolleys are operating Friday - Sunday from 10a to 7p. We will then resume the normal summer hours of Wednesday-Sunday from 10a to 7p.

Water is off in the Driftwood Lane area after a main line was struck during construction. Crews have been dispatched to repair the line and restore water service as soon as possible. We will provide an update with the estimated time of the outage when possible.

The City of Galveston's mill and overlay street crew will return to Gulf Village later this month to complete the resurfacing of streets in the neighborhood. There are three streets left to complete: Yucca, Poplar, and Cypress.
