2003 Busch Race from Daytona, 20 years later. Thank you Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds for the kind words. It was the first time my dad heard him being tied to me, instead me tied to him. He called me post race and told me about it. He was in the hospital and passed 2 months later.

In 1986, I tried to make the Cup race there in my dad’s backup car. Bill Elliott won the pole with a 19.81 seconds. It took a 20.28 to make the field. I ran a 20.31.
.5 off the pole and missed the show by .03 of a second.

I was called old in a new fashion this weekend. It was pointed out that Andy Graves Slugger Labbe and I have worked races at @BMSupdates in all 3 configurations, asphalt, concrete and dirt.
In politically correct terms, we are Surface Experienced. I am sure there’s other OGs.
