With a yr-long hiatus, followed by a guest edited issue, I've felt quite detached from my baby but Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal is five yrs old today! For personal reasons, I'm thinking of this editorial & poem I wrote for Issue 8: poetrybirmingham.com/issue-8-editor…
P.S. You shd get PBLJ10 any day now. 🪲
I’ve just bought a couple of books to help keep this vital press going. Do have a look at their website to see their poetic delights! Longbarrow Press
Reading WWI poetry for my Poetry School MA. I'd feel better if I thought humanity had learned anything since. Owen uses the word 'children' deliberately. Those dying in the trenches are just out of childhood. Actual children are targeted in Gaza and Ukraine. FFS.
I’m so arsey. Feeling absolutely determined this a.m. to get back to exercising & get thro/get to stay on this bloody #immunotherapy V pleased with myself for my current ‘get back on the horse’ speed. Tho no chance of actually getting on a horse. Think feeling feelings 1st helps.
At the #melanoma #immunotherapy side effects consultation with Rheumatology today, words happened which seemed to be ‘tender, but no signoritas’ ❌💃💃💃⁉️ Always good #writingfodder
We have recently updated our information & visuals explaining the side-effects of #immunotherapies & the likelihood of getting some of the more common side effects.

Thanks to Dr Dr Joanne Bird for her initial support with this project.
Can we get the wider public to take this seriously? Thank you @[email protected]

One thing I hope for in poetry is the acceptance of Zoom readings. Without them eg last night’s wonderful Kathryn Bevis launch couldn’t have happened. But it did, also with the help of her poet friends. We can be there for each other, more fun than shitey divisiveness, try it.
Hi Dr Jo Clement reflecting on the reactivity you’ve had how about we reclaim it as ‘Congrats Butcher's Dog Publishing on an innovation to keep publishing by adding value to the mag by funding it & value to submitters who can pay to fine-tune their judgment if they want to’👍 Can’t stand still🤷♀️
